Why are rectangular trampolines more expensive?

Ever wondered why rectangle trampolines tend to be priced slightly higher than the equivalent round trampoline?  Here we take a quick look at the price difference and if a rectangular trampoline is the best choice for you.

A popular trampoline choice

Rectangular trampolines are a popular choice. Often called ‘the king of trampolines’ by enthusiasts they give an even and superior bounce.  The spring placement in a rectangular tramp also gives better control over your jump height and landing.

Rectangular trampolines are designed for athletes or large families. Rectangle trampolines give an even bounce throughout the jumping mat. This gives excellent control and space to ‘travel’ across the entire jump area. Whereas round models encourage ‘on-the-spot’ bouncing.  Rectangular trampolines allow you to bounce higher than a round model. The long, rectangular shape gives you more area to do tricks. The springs on a rectangular trampoline work to give optimum height and landing control.

More rectangular trampolines are sold in North America than any other type.

The extra cost

There are several reasons rectangle trampolines are often priced slightly higher than the equivalent round versions.

When comparing the prices and shapes of different trampolines it is important to consider Classic round trampoline frames are inherently strong by design. A round-shaped trampoline distributes the stress evenly over the frame, rather than concentrating at any one point.

A rectangle frame has more joins and corners to factor in. A well-engineered rectangle trampoline often needs a combination of stronger springs and more metal to support corners and joints and to strengthen the long edges.

The edges of rectangle trampolines are much longer than the same pieces of the equivalent round trampoline.  This means storage space is required, more packaging, and more expensive shipping fees.

Are rectangular trampolines worth it?

Despite the extra cost, in our opinion, a rectangle trampoline is an excellent choice and worth the investment. Consider buying a rectangular trampoline if you have more than one child or if you have an adventurous kid who wants to build stamina and coordination beyond the limitations of a round trampoline.  Rectangle trampolines are perfect for a child who wants to master their flips and tricks.

If you are a gymnast, diver, partake in snow sport, are a G-Tramp aerialist, or parkour athlete then a rectangular trampoline is a good choice for you. North Trampolines offer two of the best rectangular trampolines on the market, the Explorer and the Performer.
